At Autodesk University Autodesk and cloud-computing company Frame announced the complete certification of Autodesk applications in a virtual environment. In a nutshell, run Autodesk Revit or Autodesk AutoCAD in a fully certified and supported cloud environment. (editor’s note: AutoCAD for Mac runs natively on OS X as does the LT version). Please, Please, Please make Revit specifically for Mac Computers. Many of my designers friends that prefer Mac’s have been forced to switch to PC’s because they want to render in Revit. I can not stand working on a PC and I am being forced to purchase a very expensive one to use only for Revit. To carry around 2 computers is ridiculous, but.

*Remote Access: If you have access to another Windows system (e.g. Windows Remote Desktop, Citrix, etc.) you could use remote access software to use Revit on the remote system, while working through your Macintosh.
*Autodesk provides many native Mac products for 3D modelling, CAD, rendering, animation, VFX and digital imagery. In addition, we provide full support for a number of products when used on the Mac in virtualised environments including Parallels Desktop and VMware Fusion.
The wait is finally over for all you Mac and Revit users thanks to Frame. No more Bootcamp, Parallels or switching between a PC and Mac, well, yes, but no. Autodesk don’t have a Revit for Mac version but there is an application called Frame that it can run through and Autodesk have certified it for Revit and AutoCAD.
“Frame: Run any software in a browser” is a cloud based application.
So by the look s of it, it seems pretty straightforward and costs anywhere from $10 – $25 a month plus additional charges for usage above the allocated credits. Click here for a test drive.
